  1. I transfered a 3-minute silent 8-mm film on a VHS which I transfered to a DVD recorder. I ended up with a 200Meg file. I am trying to find a way to reduce it to about 1Meg. My goal is to upload it on Facebook. I used a capture software called Camtasia. That was an improvement as it reduced the file to 52Meg with a VOB extension. What do you suggest? Thanks.

To get a minimal file size, use the H.264 codec in an .mp4 container. Reduce the framerate to what the original 8 mm film was shot at (anywhere from 14 fps to 24 fps, if my info is correct), to remove duplicate frames that may have been inserted while digitizing (29.97 fps likely).
Run a few conversions with these settings at varying low frame sizes (around 240x176, I guess) to get close to 1 MB.

Why do you want to reduce it? FaceBook takes vids up to 1GB.
