  1. I was using Smart Ripper / DVD2AVI / TMPGenc very well but I had to format my drive and lost all my software, so I downloaded them from the tools section of this site.

Now when I complete the process and watch the film on my DVD player it is blockey (if that's a word) when the people make any movement.

I did not know whether this is something to do with one of the latest versions I have downloaded, or am I doing soming wrong?

    Would appreciate any comments.

  2. when you encoded, did you set motion search accuracy to high quality (slow)?

also...it might be a field order problem....do you have the same blockiness when you watch it on your computer monitor..if not, disregard this

  3. I tried changing the motion setting first to High (slow) and still blockey when I play it on my computer and so changed it to Very High (Very Slow) in TMPGenc and still the same. Have not tried burning to CD every time as presume it will be the same as when I watch it on my computer.

Would appreciate any further comments if anyone knows of how to remove the blocking when people move on the film.

  4. Also forgot to say, also changed the field order section on TMPGenc on the very High motion seting and still the same when I play it on my computer.

This is very strange, because as I said, I used all these bits of software before and had no problems??

  5. Use 2 pass VBR is TMPGEnc and make sure the avg bitrate is 1500 or above when making SVCD`s. If your making CBR Standard VCD`s, then its normal to see blocks, 1150 is just plain to low of a bitrate and thats why I never make VCD`s

With 2 pass VBR, you dont need to set motion setting to High (slow). Fast motion search will do fine and it will go faster.
