    What's the best free method of burning AVI files to a regular DVD player compatible disc?

    Having a menu on the end result DVD would be a good perk. It doesn't have to be anything complicated. Just a custom background image with some selections would do.

    AVstoDVD. You can make a basic menu with a custom background also.

    To anyone searching this forum in the future... I settled on DVDstyler, as it has better menu design options than AVStoDVD
