  1. After adding some photos into the video project (the photo are of high resolution), I export the video into AVI format without compression. However, the photos are blurred in the exported video.

I have tried different settings, such as installing windows media encoder 9, exporting to different video formats, and I have checked the photos were kept in original height:width ratio while importing into the video project. But until now, it still doesn't work.

One interesting thing is while viewing the video in "Project Playback" option before exporting, the video look's fine with the photos very clear. The picture below is the screen capture on "Project Playback":

But while viewing the photos in the exported video, it looks like this:

    I'm using a windows 7 OS, 32bit

    Any ideas?? Many thanks

Was the video frame size the same as the photos ? I suspect not as a photo is usually 3*2. Looks to me that some resizing is taking place which then blurs the image.

Take the photos into a photo program like Picasa, and do the resizing there.

    OR

Convert the photos to PNG format, and that way they will resize better in other software.

This photo only occupied some area in the video frame:

And I saw that there is an option which allow me to select keep/not keep the ratio of importing image, and I chose "keep"

Keep surfing on the web for solutions

  5. And the video size is 720 X 576. Video looks good in "Project Playback" option, but looks fuzzy after exported into a video.

But your image is not 720*576 either before or after. So the program is messing it up. After all it is a video editor and not a picture editor.

What I would do is this (others may suggest another way)

    1. Import your raw picture into a photo editing program.

    2. Resize image to 720 pixels in width

    3. Rebuild image so that it is now 720*576 - requires a border top and bottom

    4. Save image at highest possible quality (but if it is jpeg then you gain nothing by creating it as png)

    5. Import that image into the video editor

Two people gave you the same answer, and you're still confused? Apparently this video stuff is just not your forte'.

  8. DB83: Thanks! I have tried your steps but in the third step: "Rebuild image so that it is now 720*576 - requires a border top and bottom", I don't understand. The photo's resolution is 900 X 408 originally, after setting the width to 720, the height will be 326 while keeping the aspect ratio.

The wordings appeared on the top of the screen capture (The white and orange Chinese wordings) are created in the video software. They are not part of the image.

What I meant is that you have to alter the canvas size to 720*576. This is easily achieved in Photoshop and in your example you would then have borders of 125 pixels top and bottom.

I am a bit concerned about the original dimensions of the photo. It is not 3*2 so the camera is outputing an irregular format. And 900*408 is not hi-res for a photograph. This seems more to be a still image from a video or a single frame from one. A camera would have to be dead steady for that to be sharp even though it may appear so in preview. Once it is encoded - and a lot of encoding is going on since you are also adding a title - that unsteadiness is being magnified.
