Are you actually creating DVDs, or just burning AVI files to a DVD disc ? If the latter, you are in the wrong forum.

Do you have to unpack them ? I haven't unpacked a file in a long time. Most players seen to be able to handle packed bitstreams.

If you are losing sync at a mid-point in the file then I would suggest your file has a corruption of some sort at that point. There is no easy way to fix sync that breaks like this other than to split the file at the break point, sync the broken half and save it as a new file, then join the two good halves together and hope they don't go out of sync during joining.

On top of agreeing with guns1inger, one thing to add,

It sounds like this happens AFTER you unpack it ?

If "someone" told you jump off a bridge..... Well, you see where this is going.....

If it's not broke, don't fix it!!

  4. thanks for your replies. which forum should i be in. I am burning avis to dvd.
I meant someone told me to use avidemux to unpack bitstream because original file wouldnt play on my dvd player. It will play xvids (so i convert to xvid and burn more than one movie to dvd)

This forum is for authoring DVDs. If you used something like AVStoDVD or DVD Flick, this would be the forum to ask questions in. AVStoDVD would probably fix you rproblem, but you would only get one movie per disc.

While some players don't like packed bitstreams, most don't care. However there are many other things that can trip a player up. MediaInfo can tell you if you have GMC or Qpel set, which can be a problem. The fact that simply unpacking causes sync issues seems to indicate other problems with the file, including perhaps a broken index or other corruption.
