  1. Hi
I am new to svcd as you will tell.I have played with .avi a little.
but i have just used dvd2svcd and encoded with TMPGEnc . In the movie folder
that my encoded files are i have these 4 movie clip files.
    Title picture.bmp
    bbmpeg muxed file00 131mb
    encode audio 1 122mb
    change cd pictu re.bmp 20.4kb
    some mpv files,avs files , ac3file 285mb
and a bbmpeg muxed file mpgoo 734mb.

I thought i was looking for bin and cue files????

  2. Hi

you did not do anything wrong!

    but:
you can specify don't remove any temp files (default is off)

the muxed file is the movie (part 0 for the first cd 1 for the second if any)

If you use/check vcdimager then dvd2svcd creates the bin/cue files for you

You better use that so you only have to select the cue file in your burning software (use Nero 5.5+) and youre off!

Also using the vcdimager option you will have selectable chapters (like the chapters on you original dvd)

also always use 80min cdrom sou you will around 60 mb more data on your disc

(you can store 800mb on one 80 min cd, thats 100mb more than a normal windows data cdrom)

    good luck

  5. Hi,

    your 2 questions:

    1) You can burn the already converted mpg file you have, saying 'muxed' in the name using Nero 5.5+ (or a equivalent burn prog) and select the Super Video CD template at the opening (wizard). Drag your mpg file from the file explorer window into the cd window
Nero checks the file and ignore warning (if any) about audio being 48khz when it should be 44.1khz because most players will accept it
(default is convert to 44.1 but this just takes more time to encode)

If you want the svcd chapter version using the vcdimager option you better convert the dvd again (or you can use the vcdimage gui and define the chapters yourself but i would not try that at this point)

    2)
I you used the defaults on the bitrate tab
then any dvd should result into at least 2 cd's
in the cd file size combo on the bitrate tab select 800mb (or just type the size you want)
on the left side of this combo you can specify between which movie duration interval (say 90-120 min) how many cd's have to be used
(Pearl Harbor is almost 3 hours and ONLY then i use 3 cd's)

    good luck

  6. Thanks mate for your help the muxed file is only 734meg

    thanks for you time

  7. Hey I thought I already said the burning proces, like using Nero 5.5+ select Super Video CD template and drag the (734mb) Mpg file into the cd composition window
    And BURN
The file will be checked and if you didn't change to much settings it will be a full compliant but I said not to worry about the 48 vs 44.1 khz difference

If you did not change any settings and you converted a 'normal' DVD
it should give 2 files hence two cd's

me I never had movies on one file/cds

R u sure there was only one muxed file in your directory???

which movie was it? or at least how long?

stick to a maximum of 60 min per 80min cdr

btw, a good (but not better) equivalent for Nero is WinOnCD

    good luck

  9. if the maximum bitrate is larger than svcd standard (ie 3500) can i still fit 800 megs on 80 min cd?

i am using one of latest version of nero and it doesnt seem to compress the 800 megs. but when i used bitrate 2500 i can fit 800 megs on 80 min cd. Strange

    thanks

  10. avg bitrate determines filesize(note there is no avg bitrate for cq_vbr)

  11. sorri for going over this so many times but what i meant was that my final mpeg2 file was 790megs. but it doesn't fit on 80 min cd.

    any reason for that?
