  1. Hi

I'm trying mkvmerge for the first, extracting audio, subs etc and converting them correctly, that I'm aware of

So far everything seems to work when I mux except for one thing I can only play the extracted files within the same folder

    Example

    original film with Japanese Audio

extracted an English Audio and ASS subtile files and attachments for font etc

setting defaults and yes where needed

I mux and it will register and play these extra files, but as soon as I delete, move etc one of he extraction files when I play the file again it wont register that file.

So i may as well just get my media player just load those files for me.

So is MKVmerge ment to merge this files into 1 MKV so i shouldnt need to use external files or am I doing something wrong, or using the wrong software.

cheers be great to know soon as me being silly, my folders are cluttered, thinking it should be done by now

update- oh yeah I'm perfectly happy with the timing size and font I just want to merge all these files so that I don't have to rely on a second file to play my subs or other audio

  2. You don't specify what you are using to play the video. If it's a software player on the PC then many players will recognize a text subtitle stream in an .mkv if it's .srt subs. DVD players and set top boxes vary with the manufacturer.

If need be you can convert .ass subs to .srt using SAConv

Hard to make additional suggestions without more info.

  3. Hi

Im mainly play from pc so pc programs like VLC and Windows Media player Classic

I'm trying to have just the 1 file rather then having a pile of files to play from.

I'll give SRT a try but the thing that confuses me then is the files that I extract the subs from theyre ASS/SSA as well so surely I shouldnt need to change and be able to put an ASS like how the original file did, but I will give it a go anyways

What do people need to know so they can help me then

Update- SRT didnt work I saved/mux the file to a different location and the subs didnt show unless i dragged it into the same folder/location. So Am I using it wrong or something isnt a simple case of select video that comes with a original audio annd then select the sub file and I add atachment for style text etc and hit mux
