  1. I am wondering if using a First Play track is causing problems for my DVD. These are my results ...

With using a First Play the simulation works fine, but DVD does not play right...
    - on Computer (Unknown DVD)
    - on DVD player (goes straight to Chapter 1 and sticks)

When I delete the First play track and recompile, the simulation still works fine, and now ...
    - on Computer DVD works fine!
    - BUT on DVD player (now it says Unknown DVD)

If First Play is the culprit am I seeing artifacs from having used a First Play track even after I deleted it and recompiled? I guess my next step is to start clean again and rebuild my project without First Play.

My data is 3hr 21 min of PAL on a 4.7GB disk. 8 clips as chapters in one track using Cloud 2 menu. The first play is two clips back to back.

    Thanks!

  3. OK. I burned DVD with the Disc Writing Tool this time and the DVD with the First Play works on both the player and computer. Great!

Why doesn't burning the disk using Win7 explorer built copy and burn feature not succeed?

I did have one odd thing occur. The first time I loaded this DVD into the player it skipped the First Play track and went directly to play chapters 1-3 also bypassing the menu. I was able to pull up the menu but if I chose chapters 4-8 it would only go to chapters 1-3. Then I took the DVD out and put it in again and then it started working perfectly. Hmmm?

    Thanks for your help!

DVD Video needs to be burnt to particular specs, and I suspect that the built-in burning app in Win7 does not set this up by default. The best burning tool for DVD Video is Imgburn. It is free, does most fo the leg work for you, and is the only choice if you are burning dual layer discs.

I don't use tmpgenc for authoring, so I can't help you any specific authoring issues
