  1. Dear audio/video gurus,

I am a novice to audio/video and am seeking assistance in regards to some audio/video questions relating to my work.

Could anyone identify a mountable digital video camera (by tripod) with HDMI output? Also, does anyone know of a good PCI card for office PCs that will accept the HDMI input?

The configuration must result in streaming video to the PC via Windows Movie Maker. The video cannot be first saved to on-board storage and then downloaded. It must stream the video. I know that this is possible with firewire and I assume it’s possible with HDMI.

Ideally, a big name product like JVC, Canon, Samsung, etc.

    Thank you!

You might look here for some ideas: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/294841-Capture-HDMI-From-Camcorder

AFAIK, quite a few HD camcorders can stream live HDMI. Not many cards can handle it, maybe: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/

Not sure if WMM would work at all with this setup.

If you just want to distribute the live HDMI to other displays, seems like it would be a lot easier with HDMI distribution equipment and avoid the PC completely. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&N=0&A=endecaSearch&InitialSearch=ye...tion+Amplifier

You might want to outline a bit better what you want to do and why.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. redwudz,

Thank you for your insight. The Black Magic Intensity seems like a reliable choice for PCI, but the office has apparently used WMM in the past for streaming, so I am hoping it will be compatible. I will have to find out what equipment they were using.

As for the camcorder, it is good to know that there are many choices for HDMI live streaming. Could you recommend any from personal experience?

There are counselors in this office who have performed live streaming of interviews using a firewire output to Windows Movie Maker. This is done in order to immediately review the interviews. The interviews could run up to an hour. It seems that this path was chosen in order to avoid the wait of uploading pre-recorded interviews to the counselors' PCs (there isn't much time to spare around here). Apparently, because of frequent damage associated with firewire there is a desire to move from firewire to HDMI output.

I will get back to you with the specifics of their previous setup and just exactly what was being damaged.

    Thanks again,

    Andrew
