I don't see it either. I cannot find any information on why it is missing but there was a Windows installer for the previous release.

Try browsing the following "dir listing":

    http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.1/win/x86/

Apparently, the link to the Windows installer
was removed by some F.O.S.S. troll

  4. I have already the two installers and the german helpfile on my HDD, but I am/was worried that new versions for windows won't be released anymore.

I like LibreOffice so much and better than OpenOffice, because it IS the new OpenOffice...

I think the site of LibreOffice is under construction ...

According to Wikipedia, BrOffice is just the Brazilian version of LibreOffice.
However I have no idea of why it seems to have a "special position" @ The Document Foundation.

How does this differ from Open Office?
I don't recall ever reading about Libre Office before. New to me.

    EDIT:
Nevermind, I see what the situation is.

Libre has a Microsoft Works import filter -- nice! Maybe now I can dump MS Works for a certain db.

Simplistic summary: Since Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems they have done a fantastic job of burning bridges with the open software community and LibreOffice spun off from OpenOffice.org because the main developers don't trust Oracle (Oracle now owns OpenOffice.org).

  9. Hi,
Yes, LibreOffice is the "new OpenOffice.org", that means LibreOffice is developed from the original developers.

I downloaded the two BrOffice- and the two LibO-installers and they are exactly the same (file size is exactly the same), only the file name is different.

Do you know a popular freeware checksum tool so I can calculate checksums?

    VirtualBox has criticism, too, yes?
Another Sun open source item that seems to have dropped dev.

I think I recall reading about that back late last year.

Speaking of Oracle: since "I-don't-remember-when", it's impossible to download the 64-bit JRE for Windows from the "official" Java download page

unless you're using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer

Instead of doing a check-sum, I use the file compare function in Total Commander, it's free*, more informative, and very easy to use.

    * The free version will ask that you select button 1, 2, or 3 to start but after that simple nag everything works. I liked the program so much that I paid the then ( about 10 years ago) $8 each for three permanent licenses.
