Probably a total noob question here. I searched the forums and couldn't really find answers to these questions.

I just bought a Panasonic DMP-BDT110 3d blu-ray player. The manual says it plays .mkv files off of both BD-R and DVD-R/DVD-R DL discs (the pdf of my manual is here). I have an .mkv file that i want to burn and watch, but I don't have a blu-ray burner. Since my blu-ray player will play this, I was wanting to burn the file to a DVD-R and play it on the player. A couple of questions...

    1) Will there be any loss of quality burning the .mkv file on a DVD versus burning it on a blu-ray provided that I don't compress the file at all? The file looks blu-ray quality when I play it on my computer, so my question is will I get blu-ray quality when I burn it (uncompressed) to a DVD?

    2) Is it as easy as just opening up any burning software burning the .mkv file on a DVD-R or DVD-R DL? If not, what program(s) might I need. If a certain tutorial fits this request, I'd love if you could link it to me.

    Thanks!

    1. No. if you just burn the mkv file as-is, there will be no quality change

    2. Imgburn. Burn the file as data.

in ImgBurn- when in build mode: go to options tab data type leave as-is file system : pick "UDF" UDF revision i stick with 2.5 (same as for BDs) you need UDF filesystem in order to burn large files (i think over 2 GB? i forget exactly). ImgBurn may auto change it for you, but just in case, it is good to know If you are able to burn BluRay, you should have no issue with this filesystem.
