Hey guys,
I tried to look around at different topic headings to see if this has been covered, but I didn't see anything. Here's what I'd like to get help with. I want to be able to view videos in 1080p from a laptop(which I have not purchased yet) onto my 1080p Samsung 40" LCD 120hz tv. Do I need to buy a laptop with an "hdmi out" that has the capability of displaying in 1920x1080 resolution in order for this to work properly, or can the max resolution of the laptop be lower than this and still give me the 1080p viewing output on my tv? Also would I need a certain type of video card? Hopefully my questions make sense. I'd really appreciate any help that any of you could give me.

Hdmi out with hdcp is required for protected high def material from sources like bluray.
you could have a component output adapter for a laptop but I don't know if those even exist - component can do high def but not work with protected bluray discs.
You can do lower than 1080p and have your tv upscale it.
Yes you need a video card that is designed for high def. I don't have exeperience with high def on laptops so I can't offer specifics in that sense but it must be high def rated and a dual core processor or better should be the minimum you should consider for smooth hd playback -
AND LOTS OF HARDDRIVE SPACE!!!! - if you will be doing lots of work with high def video.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
