Hello all.
Here is a thread I'm starting for discussions on my DV cam endeavers,
ie, problems, issues, current events like TV shows/movies to captures,
etc., etc. bla, bla,
So, I'm opening up the thread with a topic on tonights showing of TNT's
* "The Matrix". . .
The Matrix is on TNT and I want to tape it to miniDV too see what kind of quality I get from it. I heard there's a scene or two that is difficult to encode to. Is that the lobby scene, where there's a lot of gun fire and explosions ?? I'd like to mess around with them tonight, if time allows. And, are there any other scenes that others have. I tried encoding parts of Matrix a while back, but i had problems with my AVI captures, and other captures I needed to take priority of at that time. So, it was only brief.
Please let me know of any other scenes in "The Matrix" that you know of
that give you a hard time to encode (blocks)
So far, I have plans to test some captures off my NEW Apex AD-1500
after I macro-clean it, and I will see if my DV cam can capture from it
without shutting down, as in my previous attemps on my old model
AD-1500.
Why, so I can rule out the "color space" issue I'm having on some caps
from my DV can. I'm assuming that it's my Satalete signal for now.
If my AD-1500 works, and if the video is better, then at least I know what
is causing the "color space" issue. I'll be trying this tonight, if time allows,
or during the commericals.
Well, see yas in a bit.

I posted this on another thread, so I'm basically repeating it case
you didn't view the other thread.

I finally got my ad-1500 to work w/out macrovision, and can NOW cap
from my ad-1500 to my DV cam. So, I did a capture of one of my
favorate movie's, "Dogma" since it's in great quality, and not too
many moving parts. Did a scene in the restoraurant and on the train.
Easy scenes here. anyways, I did some test encodes to SVCD and,
quality of SVCD is smooth, but the color was horrid!! It was on the
"brown" side!!. Really bad.
Yep!! There's definately a "color space" convergence going on here. I
think it's the DV's "driver codec" that's doing the convergence here, but
I could be wrong. Right now, there is not one person in knowedgeable
here on this forum that can explain it, AND give resolution/answer
to it. Would love to solve it. I think it's just a matter of figuring out how
to re-map the "color space" using filters in VD or TMPG, but TMPG doesn't
seem to be able to supply enough color filters for the job, nor VD. I think
that there must be a seporate, special "color space" converagence filter
for TMPG and/or VD to handle/fix this for us DV cam users.
Really, this clip's color was so bad. If any of you's want, i'll post a small
sample clip to demonstrate what I'm talking about, and those that HAVE a
legit copy at hand, can do a quick rip and encode of the same scene and
compare with mine. It's really bad.
* A definate bad point (thumbs down) on this issue for the DV cam's.
I will play around with the two test DV avi files I just did, for a little while
longer. If I find anything worth posting, I'll reply here.
