Ok I'm gonna try to learn the piano for real I guess. I bought the midi to usb adapter on ebay and I should get it at the end of the week.
I have the rockband 3 keyboard and its great. However I decided I want to try to learn the piano. I have seen some software already. I saw the piano for dummies software at bestbuy for 30.00.
Is that a good place to start?
What else have you got?

Fyi no promises here. I did buy that cheap acoustic guitar several years ago. I played around with it for awhile and I haven't touched it in years. This might be different since I'm still using the keyboard in the rockband itself.
Edit - just found a freebie I think I'll like:

Looks a lot like rockband 3 in pro key mode. I'll give it a try and it looks to be freeware.![]()

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Well I got the cable the other day and it works great. Only downside is I have to turn on the rockband keyboard with the xbox home button and that turns on the xbox even though its another room so I have to go and turn it off when I use the keyboard on the computer.
I ended up getting the emedia Piano for Dummies cd. It is very good. It has animated keyboards and video lessons. Plus the nice thing is it has a preview of the keyboard playing the song with the numbering overlayed on the keys to show you what to do.
I've already finished the first two chapters and played some simple songs already! Definitely a good deal for just 30.00 (well add another ten for the cable when shipping is included).
This might inspire me to break out my acoustic guitar I bought a few years back and never stuck with (cheapo thing off ebay but it works at least).Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
