  1. Hi,

I'm trying now Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 after using version 7 because the latter didn't accept h.264 files.

But also HD Platinum 10 does not accept all my h.264 files - after rewrapping them into .m2ts using tsmuxer. Some are accepted and the others just cause the pro to crash.
So I'm wondering actually about several things...

Is there another codec like h.264 - I mean with such quality and small size, SV would accept - I can convert to? cuz all the codecs I know of with similar quality produce way too big file sizes. I have too many files and I can't afford big-size files.

If it's something related to SV version or "model" i.e. Movie Studio or pro..etc, What would be your recommendation.

You will get similar problems with all such formats like vc1, xvid, theora. H264 is probably best as it's in AVCHD that most editors now support.

But what is your h264 source? Blu-rays converted to h264 or?

Reconvert to avchd with AVCHDCoder. (But you might get same problem as with tsmuxer...)

Also, be aware that if source format differs from project format, the timeline must be rendered for smooth playback. This generates large tmp files. I agree with Baldrick that conversion to AVCHD spec (same as project format) is a good strategy.

Alternate strategy is to make a custom project format that matches the source. You can try the "match media settings" option under new project. It asks you to point to a representative file. This only works if Vegas supports that file type (video and audio).

    Then don't remux them.

  7. Baldrick, I tried AVCHDCoder but the output must be on CD. I can't put the converted files on the computer. This doesn't work for me.

edDV, I tried your suggestion also but nothing changed, the result still the same.

budwzr, I started remuxing when I thought the problem was the mkv format. but now I know it's the h.264 so I know there's no need for remuxing.

You probably need to install K-Lite.

If Vegas won't take the MKV after that, then remux to MP4. Vegas has issues with opensource material because Sony owns a studio so they don't want people using their own products to rip and circulate bootleg copies.

  11. The problem was not in the wrapper format; I'll try the mp4 wrapper though and come back to you
