    I have a sonydcr-hc52 mini cam and the firwire port does not work and is quite expensive to fix. The rca output from the camera does work. What alternatives exist to convert the dutput to digital so that I can edit on my pc? thanks

    a new cam? analog to digital from the rca won't have nearly the quality of the firewire digital transfer.
