I have a few questions relating to converting mp3 to audio cd, as I have some mp3 recordings I need to add to audio cdr in order to play on any hi-fi :-
1. What would you recommend as good tools for the job in converting mp3 to audio cd, with a high quality conversion? A tool that can verify the burns afterwards would be the best for me (ashampoo does not let me do this). Are there any free tools that can give a high quality output for this task?
2. Other than mp3, whats the best tool in your opinion that can convert a variety of audio formats to audio cd, without having to take each track individually to a format that the conversion program only supports (which is supposedly usually wav or mp3)?
3. Do audio cds normally have a main title?
4. I tried out ashampoo, which for mp3 to audio cd conversion, did not let me write a main title header for the disc in general. My discs didnt read in the same laptop after a burn either, but they did in a hi-fi!-could this have been related to the audio cd not allowing me to give the cd a title, or is it more likely to just be a poor drive or burning program?
5. After adding mp3 files, for a split second a window once popped up in the above ashampoo program and asked me to give the disc a name, but disappeared when I tried to click on the text area. I thought initially that my firewall/protection may have been causing the window to disappear (comodo/adaware always running)-which sounds like a bad bug-has anyone come across this in ashampoo? It hasnt happened since, I get no "name your cd" window- perhaps this wasnt ever meant to appear, and was a bug itself in ashampoo?
thanks for any info![]()

The MP3 files have already been compressed from their original format so "high quality output" is not something you need to be concerned about. MP3 files are not Zip files....once the quality is gone you can NEVER get it back.
As far as the rest goes....it's "much ado about nothing". Naming the disc?.....Why? That only matters if you are concerned about CDText.
Main title?.....What?
Just load the MP3 files in ImgBurn and burn the disc. ImgBurn will convert the MP3 files back to audio CD files(wav files) if you instruct it to do so and will just as good a job as anything else....and it's free. ImgBurn's website/forum has a guide for doing exactly what you want to do. -
LOL . yes, I know that mp3 files are compressed and converting to other formats will degrade quality, and ill never be able to get what you might be referring to as high quality as "music cd" with or without playing from an expensive hi-fi, but, you still didnt answer my questions other than recommending one program. I dont care if audio cds have a main title or not.. Ill assume your "What?" is an indication of not knowing what that means, its simply the cd burner asking you what you want to name your disc (often this is an empty text box with "cd/dvd name :-" in the program). Every burner usually has this. I wanted to know if most programs will normally ask this when burning to an audio cd. I also asked if ashampoo giving a pop up window for 1 second of what I wanted to name my audio cd disc before burning was likely to be a bug, as it hasnt happened since then, and since my audio cds wouldnt play in the laptop after burning, I assumed that might have been a related issue. If burners that convert mp3 to audio normally do not ask, then I would have to assume that its not related.
I will try ImgBurn-I have used it in the past, it wasnt always very compatible (with this particular machine) before, but I will try out the latest version-if it can convert a wide selection of audio files to audio cd, verify the burnt audio cd, and let me have a cd that will work on most hi-fi equipment, then Ill be happythanks

No...YOU asked for something that will give you "high quality output" in your first post. Your "MP3 back to WAV" CD you are trying to make will be only as good quality as your present MP3 files.
Sorry....that is not the impression I got from your first post.
Quite simply....there are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of programs that will burn your MP3 files back to an audio CD. I think even Windows Media Player does that. I'm just not seeing the reason for a 5-part question on the subject. -
ok, perhaps "hi-quality" wasnt the best term to use, since everyones individual perception of what "hi-quality" is can differ alot! I was really after a program that would convert audio files to audio cd without any major change in quality on a budget hi-fi to the average user (im not always talking about music, eg speech only conferences to audio cd from a good source-as long as everything is still clear). WMP does let you burn all your wmp and mp3 files to audio cd, but I dont like using programs that wont let me verify the burn, so I dont use it. Also, not all my files were mp3 or wmp...
ps, the five seperate individual questions, related and not, still needed five seperate answers! :P lol
1-with "recommended tool to audio cd that can verify" I was after users own opinions, as this can differ alot
2-with "tool with the widest variety of audio formats to audio cd", this is a seperate question, as such a tool may still not be the best in general (eg it may not be able to verify, or even burn).
3-with "main title" I simply wanted to know if most tools would normally ask me to name the disc when burning to audio cd.
4-an ashampoo issue, with finished audio cds burnt on the same laptop, only reading on hi-fi, and not the laptop-if this was likely to be a laptop related issue or related to question 3, if the answer to that was yes, and I had not/was unable to give the disc a name.
5-an ashampoo issue with a pop up asking me to name my audio cd, which happened only once, if this was a bug or not-aimed at ashampoo users.
thanks anywayLast edited by extent; 1st Mar 2011 at 10:08.
