So... I am working on a project where some of the footage was shot in a remote location by another videographer and sent to me. Two DV tapes were sent to me through the mail and now both are very damaged. It seems to me that it is likely they were exposed to a magnet or otherwise damaged in some way. The audio is barely audible and the video has spots of pixilation, though the audio is much worse. Is there any way that these can be salvaged? There is a backup somewhere but I'm nervous.
