  1. I'm working on wanting to upload video to youtube and my website. I am using my DVD recorder to download into MPEG Streamclip so that I can convert to an avi file to put into Windows movie maker.

I've done this before with no problems, but it's been a few years since I've done this and I don't know if I'm missing a step somewhere.

    From what I recall...
    I open the VTS_01_1 file.
    I fix the timecode breaks.
    Do any cutting and trimming.

Then I click to export to AVI
    Set compression to Apple DV-PAL
    Change the frame size.,
    then click "Make AVI"

Like I said, as far as I remember this seemed to work fine. But now, I keep getting an error that says it can't create the AVI file. In fact, it won't let me create any type of file, MPEG or otherwise. So, I don't know if I'm missing a step or what.

    Anybody have any ideas?

What is the exact error message? IT might help googling it.

Or you can use avidemux or xvid4psp to convert the vob to avi dv pal format.

Where are you trying to save the AVI file? Not on the (closed) DVD disc, I hope...
Maybe try a different location, on your hard disk.

    ding...ding...ding...we have a winner...lol

Like I said, it's been a few years since I've done this. I wasn't changing the "save in" part of the dialog box. Just kept it as the TS folder.

Thank you. I knew I was missing something.
