  2. Stinky,

I wrote a detailed guide for using the AIW Radeon to create totally compliant VCD 2.0 capture using the registry tool you created.

  3. I'd be eternally grateful if someone would make a guide for ATI AIW Radeon using VirtualDub & TMPGEnc. I just can't get a decent AVI capture with the ATI.

oh cool! I wonder if Baldrick would post this on the site - we can edit it slightly to be a VCD Compliant and xVCD guide... what do you think? Add a few screen captures -- that should help, don't you think?

  5. Please guys/girls go for it! All this info scatterd in various forums and threads needs to be in one place. We need a up to date guide for all AIW users.

  6. i just got win2k last week, so i'm going to set up a dual boot with ME. i'd be glad to take some screenshots during reinstall since i will probably do both OS's over from scratch. i'll also try to figure out why i'm getting that MFC42.dll error when i press setup in MMC 6.3 to setup a concrete procedure for people who want both VFW and WDM support via MMC 6.3 and 7.1

if the vfw drivers work without MMC 6.3, someone please confirm that for me...

  7. patrickm,

Creating a comprehensive guide for ATI AIW users is going to take some work. At the very least, we would have to cover the Radeon and 128 hardware, MMC 6.x and 7.x, Installation procedures for Win9x, WinNT, W2K, ME, patches, etc.

I can contribute info about AIW Radeon and MMC7.1

  8. well, i have a AGP 128 Pro, winME / win2k, and run both MMC's at once, so my part is hardly comprehensive, but seems like a solid start. i don't have a radeon though, so that's on someone else. and so are the 4.12.7078 drivers for the 128's.

i think the procedures for NT should be something along the lines of "dual boot or look for another OS. else, good luck". i'm not even sure ATI's capture drivers work right in NT at all.

but i'm glad i read this just now. i was about to start my reinstall, and realized that while i have mmc 7.1, i still haven't downloaded the win2k drivers yet...

  9. Stinky,

My AIW guide is part of a larger guide I'm creating for the Philips Video 2.0 Toolkit. I've written most of the text and I'm now in the process of inserting screen captures into the text. I've already communicated with Baldrick about the VCD2TK guide, so creating an separate AIW guide shouldn't be a problem.

Instead of one guide, we will probably need to have several for the different variations of AIW products.

I have the solution for you! Download the newest v7.1 MMC software from ATI. It has built-in support for VCD, MPEG-2, etc. I have an ATI TV Wonder and this solved all of my problems. Now I make VCD's all day...! =)
