I have a problem with droppes frames while capturing from vhs (10% )
I'l have tryed to use som differnet comperssions and I donät notice any differns ( Huffyuv, mjpg, divx 5.0 and PICvideo) using virtual DUB.
I have project to record a video from a vhs-tape to my computer then add music, text etc etc in premier.
I saw the help text about ripping then editig, there it was recomended NOT to use divx encoder, and I understand that. I can slightly edit divx files (to laggy) on my computer.
anyway, back to the problem!

If I understood correctlty (and I may not have!) you can capture OK from your TV tuner (in the VCR?) but not when you are playing a tape.
In that case, your problem would seem to be with the tape player mechanism. Try cleaning the heads - low quality signals can cause drops - and try a different tape. Also, if your tape is wound too tighly, it may not be running at the correct speed - try fastforward to end then rewind.
You should also check that the tracking is correct.
Also, I have found sometimes (always?) that it is a good idea to start the tape playing a couple of seconds before you start the capture. It may be that the capture card need a little time to lock into the signal.
If I'm wrong about your being able to capture OK from the TV tuner, then there are a million other things to check as well!!!!!! (On the PC side). There are many posts around with good suggestions there.

and thx I'l try that !
