  1. I have bd-re already downloaded. When I download the mirror version of ffdshow I get: BE-REBUIDER - UNKNOWN PUBLISHER. When I download another version of ffdshow I get: FFDSHOW - UNKNOWN PUBLISHER. Either way nothing runs. I am using windows 7, anydvd and imgburn to copy a blu-ray movie. Thank you for your reply.

  2. Use the versions of ffdshow, haali, and avisynth linked on this page:

    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716

Yes, it matters which versions you use. Then put this in your BDRB folder and run it:

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/inspect.exe

Inspect.exe will tell you if your software versions and configuration are okay.

When you've done the above, you should be good to go.

I was having a different sort of problem with BD Rebuilder. I used the guide that fritzi93 linked to and here's what i got:
    - [17:50:44] Reencoding: VID_00001, Pass 1 of 1
    - Encode failed. Retrying.
    - Encode failed. Retrying.
    - Reached retry limit. Aborting.
    - FFDSHOW Revision: (3326)
    - FFDSHOW: VC-1 not set to wmv9
    - FFDSHOW: MPEG-2 is not set to libavcodec
[17:53:47] - Failed video encode, aborted

So, I set FFDshow to the setting it requested and it started working fine.

For ffdshow: mpeg-2 not set to libavcodec. How do you do this?
For ffdshow: mpeg-2 set incorrectly [0]. How do you do this?
For Win 7: Preferred avc codec not set correctly. How do you do this?
For Win 7: Preferred vc-1 codec not set correctly. How do you do this?
For Win 7: Preferred mpeg-2 codec not set correctly. How do you do this?
Thank you for any reply that can help me.

  5. Start -> Programs -> ffdshow -> ffdshow video decoder configuration. Select codecs at top left.

Scroll down to, for example, VC-1. In the next column to the right is the decoder currently being used. Double-click it and a drop-down list will appear. Choose the correct decoder, hit Apply. Repeat as necessary for other decoders, apply, exit. Done.

  6. I'm still having problems with:
Win 7 preferred avc codec not set correctly
Win 7 preferred vc-1 codec not set correctly
Win 7 preferrede mpeg-2 codec not set correctly
How do I get into Win 7 to do this? Thanks for any reply that can help me. You have been very helpful thus far.

  7. Okay, assuming you have the correct software versions and ran the ffdshow video configuration correctly...

Are you running as administrator? I confess I don't have Win 7 and am not entirely sure about this, but you probably need to run as admin to change preferred filters. Also, are you on Win7 64 bit?

You can read about a similar problem starting here:

    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1384545#post1384545

[EDIT] You need to provide much more precise information, starting with whether you've gotten the admin message, which build of Win 7, etc. Like jdobbs says in the link above, if you bugger your registry, you were warned.

  8. When I started BD-RE it gave me a UNKNOWN ADMINISTRATER MESSAGE and asked me if I wanted to fix the error. When I clicked yes it gave me the message about needing to be a administrator to continue. That's as far as I got because I didn't know how to run it as a administrator. How do I do that? Yes, I am on Win 7 64 bit and home version. What does WHICH BUILD OF WIN 7 mean? What more precise information can I give you? As always, thanks for your replies.

  9. The "build" matters because the offending registry keys are in different places in 32 or 64-bit versions. (As explained in the link).

Anyway, that's by-the-by. It now seems clear that you simply need to run as Administrator for BDRB to fix the problem itself, as jdobbs explains. No need for any dangerous poking around in the registry.

Like I said, I dunno much about Win 7, but if it's like Vista I think you should be able to right-click the BDRB icon and select run as administrator. Or right-click the icon and select properties -> compatibility. Under privilege level set run as administrator. That sets it permanently to run with elevated privileges.

    Good luck.

  10. If I still continue having this problem would it be possible to download another version of Windows like XP or maybe Vista for it to work. Will that be better? I can do that, can't I.

    How do I change this?

Go to ffdshow in Programs. Open ffdshow video decoder configuration. Go to the line on the right side of the window that says Mpeg2, click on it under the Decoder column and change to libavcodec. Click OK.

    Run Inspect again.

Edit: libmpeg2 also seems to pass the inspection.

  13. ffdshow -> Video decoder configuration -> Codecs -> MPEG2.

Click on the decoder currently being used for MPEG2 (column two). Select libmpeg2 from the drop-down list, apply, OK.

[EDIT] Ya beat me to it! I'm too slow.
