Yeesh, i used media pipe to turn a mv2 into mepg2 (svcd Compliant)
And I used a converter to convert ac3 into wav
Thennn i muxed, and guess what? By the end of my movie, the audio was about 3minutes out of sync...
The very beginning was in sync but as the seconds went on, it just got worse and worse...it was kinda funny when fighting sounds ending up being placed over sex scences...
Any help on this? Did i get some kind if rate wrong? I doubt that i did, becuase there wasnt much that i could have done wrong : / i realllly want to fix this, spend days ripping a dvd just to have it not work
Merci

check the exact duration of your source video stream and audio stream. is it the same duration?
-
No, at the end of the movie, the video stops, and the sounds play for like 3-4 more minutes.
-
i mean, check the video stream with MPEG Info and the audio stream with Quicktime Player, and write down the duration in seconds. What do you obtain? You could then edit the audio stream and squeeze it so as its duration match that of the video stream before muxing.

ok, i figured it out...the audio is longer than the video...wonder how that happened...
thanks, ill try to even it out -
if i cut the audio, itll cut stuff that is supposed to be said : /
any idea how the video shrank? -
the audio is about 1hr 20mins the video is 1hr 6mins, what a shame, i cant cut the audio that much, is there sumthin wrong w/ my mpeg2? it took 2days to encode it : / hope thats not the problem
-
You're so much incredibly out of synch i'm not sure it will be possible to recover without re-encoding. Anyway, the way to go is not to cut the audio, but to shrink it to fit the video duration. To do it, you should open your audio file with an app named QT Mutator. Adjust, save, and remux.

when i shrink the sound by 20minutes, it messess it all up w/ the squeaky sounds...
should i just give up on this movie and try another?
Or will my next attempt be just as futile? -
Odd coincidence, using the rough times you gave, the audio to video ratio, is about the same as the ratio of 29.97 to 23.976
-
cool...reencode the video? The video is at 29.97 already... does that mean take it to 23... or encode the audio differenly? If you are referring to the audio...how do i encode audio to a framerate?
And thank again, guys...im learning so much here. Im doing all this on my new 600mhz ibook w/ 384mb ram cant wait till dual 1.sumthing comes out, then things will go much quicker. -
MPEGinfo tells me that their fps are the same....29.97
If it helps any, this is a ripped dvd that I'm working with... -
If is very rare for audio timing to change, so use that as the base line.
So if the audio IS 1 hour 20 minutes, originaly the video was too.
If the original was encoded at 23.976 for 1:20 then it should have 115085 frames. If you take those same 115085 frames and play them at 29.97 fps, it would only last 1:04.
FYI, most all DVDs made from film are encoded at 23.976 fps, however syncing problems occure when the producer adds animations or special effects. The frame rate can change several times in the middle of the movie. This would mean, finding the sequence, and cutting out or duplicating frames manually till it syncs back up.
Sorry got a little long winded, yes re-encode at 23.976
