any advise on this would be much appreciated.

    I 16:33:08 Verifying Sectors...
    W 16:33:08 Miscompare at LBA: 10762982, Offset: 0, File: \BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts
    W 16:33:08 Device: 0x00
    W 16:33:08 Image File: 0xF6
    W 16:33:08 Total Errors in Sector: 2,036

there is a few of these.

would this be a problem with the disc or the file, i am backing up a movie and testing it on a re-writtable first but keeps coming up with these errors while verifying.

    cheers.

i seem to get this alot as well even after i change the speed in the presets to 1x as default.

    W 22:16:24 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 4,496 KB/s (1x), Got: 10,338 KB/s (2.4x)

could this be part of the same problem.

  5. It probably means your drive (or drivers) returned garbage to the program. It's not something I've ever seen myself so I haven't been able to look into what actually causes it - that would involve doing some I/O snooping with a lower level program.

The program can only work with what it's given (by the drive/hdd) and a miscompare usually means there's some underlying issue. (rogue program/driver, dodgy burner/disc, dodgy hdd, memory issues etc)

As for the speed issue... you can't make a drive burn at a speed is simply doesn't support (on a given media).
If you pick 1x and the only 'supported' speeds are 2.4x and 4x, it'll go with the closest supported speed - i.e. 2.4x.
This is nothing to do with ImgBurn, it's a firmware thing.
The disc info box on the right normally lists the 'Supported Write Speeds'. Take a look at it.

Try a different burner and different media. Also suggest you don't multitask while burning/verifying.

    Definitely look at another burner.

I got a ton of those errors a while back and finally figured my drive had started to go bad (disks that it said were fine wouldn't work in other players). Replaced it and never got another error.

The (older) Samsung burner in this pc has been dodgey for quite some time . . . to the extent that it is rated to burn at 8x with the media I use but only burns reliably at 4x. It clearly has some problem, but has shown no sign of getting any worse. For whatever it's worth, I probably do a Verify run with 3/4 of the discs I burn with your program, and I can't recall the last time there was a verify failure. So, I hope that's a good indicator. (The only problems I've seen did not involve a Verify, and only seemed to occur when IB was called by AVS2DVD.)

While you are here, can I take the opportunity to ask a related question ? Weren't you developing a graphing program that would provide an alternative to DVDInfoPro, for handling the burn graph data ? I'm curious to learn what is the current status of that project ?
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

    Me? No.

There's a free tool called BurnPlot that does it, but I had nothing to do with it - beyond making general suggestions etc in the forum thread.

It can be downloaded from the 'Download' page on my website.

It's not quite as good as DVDInfoPro at the plotting (incorrect RPM lines etc) but it's more than enough to give you an idea.

    Its not ImgBurn's fault.

I uninstalled the most current version 2.5.5.0 and installed one of the oldest I had 2.4.0.0.
    It gave me same problem.

Then I connected external ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U and it worked like a charm.

So I think its my brand new LG.

Most likely I will buy IDE-to-SATA adapter (not sure if its gonna work) and reconnect my BENQ DW 1640 that did not give me any problems for ages.

depending on when the burner was first released and even though it may be new to you some do have firmware updates to solve some initial problems, just do a search.
