Hi.
I need to convert a new mpg video file so that it will work on a pre-2000 server running Windows NT. It's a work related problem dealing with a theatre set up in a tourism site. The server is connected to serveral projectors and speakers. You are probably thinking why not just replace the server and get a new one? The server works fine however to replace it would cost around £10000 as we would also need a spare back up unit. In this current economic climate they can't afford that. Just wondering if there's any old software that would make a modern file compatible with an old system. I know I probably haven't given you enough info so if you can help I'll do my best to answer any questions. I'm running out of ideas!! HELP!

How about converting the file(s) to a format that the server can decode for playback, say cinepak AVI? WMV1 (Windows Media 7). If you want to go the hardware route, purchase a Windows 2000 machine, maybe a Windows XP Pro machine, a relatively basic machine, and use that as the media player for the network? It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly
