    ive got a avi movie and im trying to convert using this software the prob is that the movie ive got has black borders top and bottom ie widescreen but when i go to convert the film is streched is there any way of stopping this from happening ps im converting to pal

    Same thing you would do with a DVD Wide Screen to VCD/SVCD, just setup TMPGEnc to have 16:9 Display / Full Screen (aspect ratio 2)
