  1. Hi,

I have connected my PC to my Panasonic plasma through HDMI. Everything seems to work well. However, when playing Itunes video content a slim 'band' appears every 30 seconds or so that moves from the top to the bottom of the TV. Within this band the image is slightly displaced. I guess I need to change the configurations, but I do not know how?

Also, the TV displays a little less than the entire PC image. I would be grateful for any suggestions that would help me fix these issues.

Try different resolutions and refresh rates. And adjust the overscan to get full screen, like if you have an ati graphic card it works like http://www.aoclarkejr.com/ati-catalyst-9-9-overcan-and-underscan-options.html

If you want more detailed help you must provide your computer details, especially your graphic card.

  3. Not seeing the edge of the frame is your TV's fault. It's called overscan and it's happened with every video you've ever seen on your TV, you just never noticed before because you didn't have an external frame of reference. See if your TV has a non overscan mode. Each manufacturer has a different name for it, Just Scan, Pixel-for-Pixel, etc. If your TV doesn't have a non-overscan mode you'll have to use overscan compensation as Baldrick summarized.

The band may be "tearing". Try using a better player. Itunes and Quicktime Player are the worst players under windows.

  4. Thank you for your help. I found the overscan option. That settled one problem.

I have tried other players, other TV's and another computer with the same TV. It seems that the problem with the 'line' is specific to the TV, which is a brand new Panasonic TX-P42V20E.

I have used two computers, both with Visa, Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram. Mine has a T7500, 2,2 Ghz processor and a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS video card.

Could you think of any other reason for the problem with the 'line'? Might it be the cable?

    Thanks again
