I am fairly new to video capturing and I'm having a problem. I have used a pinnacle 500 usb capture device in the past with windows xp, now with windows 7 I get the video but no sound capture. could it be because of using the on board sound or is it just not a compatibility issue. I have downloaded all latest drivers. This capture device is kinda old. If I should upgrade what should I be looking for, don't want to spend a fortune as I am just trying to save VHS home movies to DVD. Any info would be appreciated.

Using onboard audio wouldn't prevent your Pinnacle 500 USB from capturing audio.

If Pinnacle doesn't support that device with Win7/Vista drivers, try the XP SP1/SP2/SP3 compatibility modes in Win7.
I've been able to get several old XP cards and webcams running that way.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
