I took a video file and examined it in 'MediaInfo" The XviD file size being reported is in the 800Mb range. After I examined these settings, I tried to take the video and convert it to VidX and *POP* the files size grows to ~1.2Gb. I took this file and re-converted it back to XviD and the file size DID NOT CHANGE, still ~1.2Gb and not the original 800MB. Ok what am I missing here? How is it that mediainfo can can report the same file in two different sizes? What's going on here? (Using WinX HD Video converter by Digiarity)

Ok so this is a simple math calculation, however, as I said the original (which I have now lost) is not as big as these two. By your analysis then the original file must have had a lower bit rate. How is this possible? In a conversion process, I have never experienced a setting of the bit rate. See attached file for the XviD / VidX thing. I don;t understand this either.

In future it would be better if you just posted the images, rather than a word doc/ any people won't open word docs either because they don't use office, or don't want to risk macro virii etc.
I don't know what settings you used in the software, however if you look at both images you will see that the bitrate for the video encoding is pretty close - 1797 kbps for the Divx encoded file, and 1740 kbps for the Xvid encoded file. That is why the files are very close in size. The bitrate for the original would have been closer to 650 kbps. So either WinX HD has a high default bitrate, or you did a CQ encode with a high quality level, and it came out at almost triple the bitrate.Read my blog here.

I moved you to our video conversion section as this is not dvd ripping related.
