I converted the ts into mkv using handbrake, i only changed the resolution to 1360x768 which my monitor supports, kept bit rate unchanged and constant ratio "0" but still some player cannot play only splash player pro can play.

what should be the best converter? ripbot or handbrake or something else?
    best format?
best resolution ? 1360x768 which is the specification of my monitor or 1920x1080 the original ts specification

Are you converting to h264/avc? They are all based on x264 so you should get similar quality if you use same settings. And use standard resolutions like 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

For your monitor use Baldrick sugestions, add 720p (4x3) use 1280x960.

RIPBOT264 is more ease to learn e use. Select 2 pass 4096 to 720p. 128 ACC

MP4 is more standard format for all players.
