  1. I just bought a Pioneer 444, expecting it to play all my (S)VCD disks without problems.

However, it doesn't seem to recognize the chapters that I created with VCDeasy. I have made (S)VCD's with 1 mpeg track and used VCDeasy to 'cut' it into chapters. These chapters worked fine on my old player (Philips).

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to fix this?

I just tested chapters(entrypoints) on my 444 and it worked fine...the chapters were made with vcdimager(the vcd sample made by vitualis).

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try the sample too. Is that the 40MB zipfile in the 'what is vcd' section?

In the meantime, could my problem be related to some setting in the player menu? Maybe something about PBC? I haven't found any settings like that yet.

  4. Well, I downloaded the sample and yes, it had some chapter support, but only because it had multiple mpeg files on it. I think the problem with this player is that chapters will only work when you actually have several mpeg files on the same (S)VCD (like this sample has).

When you create a (S)VCD the way I did, with 1 mpeg file and several indexes in the cue-sheet using VCDeasy, this player won't recognize chapters.

Can someone prove me wrong? (please )

If VCDimager chapters really don't work on this player, I'll return it to the store. Even my old Philips supported this.

Tested this, you're right. Chapters do seem to work when you enable PBC in Vcdimager...but then there's no time displayed on the player display. There's only the word 'PBC'. Do you have that also?

yep, it says pbc on the pioneer and no time display. and the vcd sample has several mpeg tracks but also real chapters for one track...the other tracks are for other testing.
