  1. I have a disc from Japan that I really want to be able to view. It was burned on a DVD apparantly from a Sharp DVD Recorder.

I do not think that it is CPRM protected. However, when I try to play it in VLC or any other program it is just green and pixellated. What am I doing wrong? I moved the VRO file to my desktop for the demonstration in the atttached youtube link.

  3. Is E: your DVD drive? You have to access the VRO file directly from DVD (the decryption key is on the disc).

Yes, when I am using Relcprm I am using trying to apply it directly to the disc. E: is my DVD drive.

  5. Is there any chance the disc you have is a copy of the original?

I know relcprm doesn't work on my Win7 64 bit machine. I don't know if it's because of it being Win7 or 64 bit. I boot to XP when I need to use it.

  7. Just tried it on an XP machine and got the same error message. My wife appeared on a reality show in Japan and the organizers sent me this DVD. I think it is a DVD recorder copy of the telecast.

Can you play it on a hardware dvd player? You could always try analog copying.

None of my home DVD players even recognize the disk. I think that VRO is not playable on too many.

  11. You usually have to use a DVD+R Recorder to read a VRO disc.

  14. I have a Panasonic ES15. And access to a Pioneer 420. I decrypt CPRM VRO discs (from Japan) every now and then with RelCPRM. If that doesn't work I could make an analog copy. PM me if you're interested.
