    Hi all,
this is something that occurred to me while trying to complete a project in Windows movie maker.
I had captured a 5 minute clip from my video camera @ 720*480 interlaced.

In WMM, I added a title and a couple of transitions at scene changes. Here's the problem:
When you render out the file at 640*480, WMM has not de-interlaced and it looks terrible.

Realizing that directshow was being used, (I saw the FFdshow icon in the systray), I accessed the de-interlace
page from the ffdshow properties and realized I could de-interlace it right there, during the decoding
without having to make an intermediate file.

This seems acceptable, at least to produce a file I can send to relatives, etc, etc. 5 minute 1.2GB mjpeg shrunk to
about 75 MB. WMV is horrible, OK for something quick and dirty but not much more.

I have an old copy of Vegas 6, but I've yet to learn it. One of these days...
Here are the options in the properties page, I chose TomsMoComp.
