Hello,
Today I purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD65K blu-ray player and also a Sony (Model: BDP-S370).
Thanks to black friday, both of them were on sale for the exact same price.
I have to return one of them, but I can't decide which one. I have been reading reviews and both seem to be equally good.
Does anyone out there have any comments on any of these two players to help me decide which one to keep?
By the way, I have a few backed up DVDs. Which player has an easier time playing backed up dvds?
I've also been reading about how these two players need a wireless lan adapter to get online (unless, of coruse, you plug them directly to the ethernet cable).
There are many complaints out there because these two blu-ray players need specific wireless lan adapters. They won't work with generic ones. Of course, the adapters that they need are made by Sony and Panasonic and they cost $90 (aprox), which is way too much.
Does anybody know if these players will work with some other generic wireless lan adapter? That would be a dedicing factor for me. Thanks a lot!

If playing burned BD25's or BD9's is important I'd keep the Sony. My one expierence with Panasonic was not good,it would not play burned BD25's or BD9's.

$90 for a stupid wireless adopter is highway robbery -
I also took advantage of Black Friday sales, and bought the Sony. I am not all that knowledgeable about blu-ray players, but upon hearing all of the wonderful internet accessed things it can do, I was sold. I came straight home and then figured out that I needed an hdmi cable, so I went back out and got one. Then, I notice that I also need the LAN adapter, so I sent hubby to get that...he comes in with a Linksys brand, which is what our local Wal-Mart carries....so, I set it up, and plug it in to the bluray player, and lo and behold, it does not recognize, although it does detect something in it's USB port... after a chat with their tech people, I find out it's "recommended" that I use a Sony LAN adapter!!! Had I known my great deal was actually going to cost me another $100 in extra parts, I may not have bought the thing!

That sucks, momof3. I ended up keeping the Sony.
In order to avoid spending more on the stupid adapter, I figured that I'd unplug the ethernet cable from my computer and plug it directly into the bluray player. I'll buy an adapter for my computer instead, which will be way cheaper. Maybe this will help you. Good luck!
