Hi,
I have to make a DVD slideshow which when played in a DVD player...
1: Starts paused on the first slide
2: Allows the operator to skip to the next chapter manually using the control, then playing through the following 30 or so slides 'automatically'
4: Ends paused on the last slide
5: Allows the operator to replay the whole DVD by skipping to the next (beginning) chapter (would be handy but not mandatory)
I'm using DVD Slideshow GUI v0.9.3.9 and have currently got a DVD slideshow working which plays all the slides from start to finish. The problem is that I can't figure out how to make it start paused on the first slide, and end paused on the last slide. I realise the operator can pause these slides manually, which is my backup plan, but ideally I would like to have the slideshow pause automatically on the first and last slides if possible, which is why I'm posting here
I have no experience in scripting.
Please, any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
PS. I don't need/want any menu interface on the DVD. I just want to put it in and have it play as intended (above).

What you need to do is some dvd menu editing. A dvd can either show a menu or play video. So what you need is a menu of the first image, a video with both first and last image(if you want a transition between them). If you want to do it in DVD slideshow GUI you could use the export to Gui for dvdauthor feature.
First you should render a slideshow with all slides to avi or avs.
Then make a new slideshow with
1. The first image.
2. The previous exported slideshow(avi or avs)
With these 2 slides in the slideshow select File > export to dvd menus
If Gui for dvdauthor isn't installed - you should download and install it.
Open the exported .gfd file in Gui for dvdauthor.
Now you'll have a dvd with a main menu leading to
1. The slideshow as a video - you can delete that and the button in the main menu.
2. A chapermenu - you can delete that too and the button in the main menu.
3. And 'Photos' - one slide at the time via buttons.
#3 Is the way you want it.
The first slide will show until you select the forward button.
Then the video will play and pause at the last frame.
If you do not want to have the main menu visible you can right click on the menu and set it up to go directly to the first of the slides.
The forward button of the videoslide is set to go to the main menu - as mentioned above with no wait and go to the first slide - it will go directly to the first slide again. As you mentioned you wanted in you #5.
In the last part of this tutorial: http://blip.tv/file/3938863 you can see how to handle the export to Gui for dvdauthor.Last edited by tin2tin; 25th Nov 2010 at 09:43.

Just noticed that imported .avs files will come out in the wrong format when exporting, so please use avi for now. Unfortunately the .avs process would have been lossless.
Let me know if you succed.
