  1. my blueray burner has been working fine for over a year and a half but now the following happens when i try to use a dl dvd and my pc specs are listed here to:

Wrong disk. Use one of these: double layer DVD+R
and i have been using these type of dual layer dvds for more than a year with no problems.
    I have a LG HL-DT-ST-BD-RE GGW-H20L YL05 BLUERAY BURNER
AND THE DL DVDS im using are Prime dvd+r dl 240min 8.5gb and i am using windows xp pro 64 bit edition and believe me i have had more than my share of problems with this 64 bit edition as a lot of my older programs are not compatible with it and there are no more updates being made for the 64 bit ed and i cant use windows 7 until i get the money to buy it and i want the ultimate edition. I have a 2tb wd 7200rpm hdd and a 1tb wd 7200 hdd and i have AMD 3.1ghz black edition cpu and 2 9800gtx pci express sli'd together with 1gb ram on each card and i have 8gd ram in my computer and a hp w2338h widescreen monitor. and help would be appriciated. it just started this suddenly and it will still burn with the regular dvds and i dont have any blue ray recordables to try yet.

I would first try a different brand of DL media, namely Verbatim as it seems to be the most dependable at the moment. The problem with some other brands is the quality control is all over the place and can vary greatly from batch to batch. And the name on the label isn't generally the manufacturer and that can also change.

Secondly, what program are you using to burn the discs with? ImgBurn is what's recommended around here.

If either of those don't help, then maybe the burner is dying. It's not unusual for the newer burners to last only a year or so. If you want to keep your BD capability, and you have an open DVD drive slot, just pick up a new burner. Quite a few DVD burners are around $20 - $25US at present.

Last thought, depending on the burning program you are using, it should have generated a log and that log may tell you exactly what the problem is. Of course you may just get the same error you listed. ImgBurn and Nero both generate logs.

    And welcome to our forums.
