  1. Been using Memorex DVD+R blanks for years. Have seen a problem showing up recently that I haven't seen much of in awhile. After I do a movie backup, sometimes there will be dark spots on the bottom (burned side) of the disk. You can hold it up to the light to see them, sometimes they are almost as big as a dime, or half the size of a dime. When the disk gets to this area, it will freeze and skip and be impossible to watch.

Anybody have any idea what causes this? We were always thinking they were 'burn' marks, but after some reading here I compared a burned disc to a new disc, and now I'm thinking they are spots that didn't burn.

There are never any errors during the burning of the disc, the spots just show up and the disc won't play correctly at that spot.

I don't know if it's my imagination, but I swear sometimes the spots look like fingerprints????

    Your discs are crap.

Buy better blank DVDs. See http://www.digitalFAQ.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm
Never buy Memorex discs if you care about your burns.
