  1. I purchased the Hauppauge 1600 Video capture card and installed it in my computer. I started capturing Video 8 and discovered that the bottom of the screen had a rolled up effect to it. I thought it was the Video 8 player that I was using and dismissed it because that was the only playback option I had available to me. Now I've moved onto to my VCR to convert VHS-C tapes and I'm still getting the rolled up effect.

Within the WinTV 7 settings, I see that there are video renderer options and I've tried them all (Overlay, VMR9, EVR). Switching these options did not resolve the issue. What else could be wrong?

I have attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing. It's driving me bonkers. I've already spent hours converting my Video 8 tapes and this appears on all of them. I'd hate to spend more time converting additional video and continue to have this rollup issue.

    Thanks all!

It's video head switching noise and will be on everything you capture from video tape. There is no way to "get rid" of it other than to crop or mask it in your capture. It doesn't show on a TV anyway - it's in the overscan area.

  3. MY BAD! You're absolutely correct. I watched it on the TV after putting it onto DVD and it doesn't appear to be there. Now that you mention it, I recall seeing "overscan" in the forums. I just needed to realize that's what I was looking for for self-help purposes.

Thank you for your time. Problem solved.
