I got a VCD from the market which had just one big DAT file in the MPEGAV folder. But it had menus as well. So if I played a song from the menu, after the song finished the movie would continue (just as in a DVD).

I thought in order to play songs through menus you need to make them as a separate DAT/MPEG files and then burn them.

Does anyone know how to make VCDs in this new way (like a DVD)? It would certainly save space as well and I guess would be easier as well.

    Thanks.

  2. This is not a new way. This VCD just uses entrypoints as chapter markers.

Search for "entrypoints" on the forums and you'll see this discussed many times.

You can author such things with a number of programs including VideoPack4, VCDImager and the VCD Toolkit.

They are not easier to author... Indeed, there's a lot of complexity involved but once you know what you are doing, it is relatively straight forward.

This is the ONLY way of doing seamless "chapters" on a VCD.
