I've tried every combination of VBR and CBR MP3 compression rates (with & without folders) and my RCA5240P treats each MP3 song like a dozen or more "tracks", pausing a fraction of a second between each "track." I've heard that it tends to cut a second off each MP3, but never heard of it chopping each song into little pieces. I've been using AudioCatalyst, and I think that's the problem. Anyone using another MP3 compression program that they know makes MP3s that work on this machine? I'd like to know before I go out and buy something.
(Please don't bother to comment about how crappy AudioCatalyst is, I know, but it still does a fast and flawless job at VBR HIGH.)
EDIT: I found out that it doesn't like packet written discs of mp3's, even after you close the disc. You have to use mastering software like "RecordNow" or "EasyCD Creator" to put the mp3's on all at once. Then it works great.
