synology or qnap, or less functional (but cheaper) netgear. smallnetbuilder dot com Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.

I have an older HP MediaSmart EX470*. It works great on a CAT6 LAN and not bad over separate wireless.

Remote streaming performance depends more on your router and ISP upload bitrate performance (real world). That and local access traffic.

 What is your internet connection?

 * The newer models have stronger CPU and more memory. My EX-470 uses a pretty slow AMD 1.8 GHz Sempron with 1 GB RAM but does connect Gigabit Ethernet. It only bogs down when indexing or balancing.Last edited by edDV; 9th Aug 2010 at 19:14. Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
