Hi everyone. I received a graphics card--GeForce 9500 GT 1GB DDR2 PCIe 2.0-- from Dell. It has a DVI-I connector, which is bad for me. My tv only has s-video, component, and composite output connectors. I was hoping that I could buy a cable that would have a DVI-I connector on one end and one of the above connectors on the other end so I can connect it to my tv. Is there any cable that would fit this description? Any ideas will be appeciated. mary

Nope, no such cable. You need a digital to analog converter, google for dvi to svideo / component.

A DVI to composite/s-video scan converter will be expensive. It will be cheaper to buy a new card with composite or s-video output built in. For example:

Hi. Jagabo. I have that card in a box ready to return it. Dell took out the s-video port and left to two dvi ports . Dell should not have "adjusted" the card.
I quess Dell does things "their way" instead of the right way. I found a vga to s-video adapter on the internet. Do they work? I hav a dvi to vga adapter already.
I am uploading a picture so you can see for yourself. Thank you for helping me with this problem. mary

That type of cable adapter is for devices that have composite and s-video on a VGA D-15 connector. It does not convert a VGA signal to an s-video or composite signal. I don't know of any graphics cards in current production, or produced in the last 10 years, that support that. Ie, it will not work.

Maryhigginsrice,
There is NO cable that will do a digital to analog conversion for you. Just not going to happen. I wouldn't blame Dell, in this case, for any proprietary video setup. Having two DVI ports is extremely common and has been common for video cards for quite some time. Unless your motherboard comes with some ananlog video out (VGA) or adapter for it, what your trying to do is not possible. (Some laptops and desktop will have an s-video like port that you plug a dongle into for analog output. I have a Dell laptop with such a port that is used for a proprietary - I think - component output.)
Your best and only bet is to do as baldrick and jagabo have suggested and get a converter.
I'm assuming your looking to use a TV as a display for your desktop. I think you'll be very dissapointed with anything other than viewing standard definition resolution or smaller videos.
What make/model is your TV? Can it support/disply full 1080p video from component?Have a good one,
neomaine

Note that the Desktop will not be very clear when viewed on a standard definition TV. It will look something like the image in this post:
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/283861-VGA-to-S-video?p=1756748&viewfull=1#post1756748
Just as fuzzy, just bigger. -
I know it won't be clear, because I used to tranfer videos from my pc to tv via s-video with the Geforce FX 5200. I just want to stream movies from Netflix on my tv. I will get the video card today and if you still want to help we can go from there. I would watch them on my monitor, but it is too dark to view movies on. Thanks again for all your help. take care mary

That card is supposed to have a circular 9 pin video connector as shown above the DVI-I conectors. The NVidia 9pin DIN has pins for composite, S-Video and analog component Y,Pb,Pr.
The card was supposed to come with an analog component cable. If not, you can buy one as an accessory.

Mary - Have you considered that maybe it would be easier to just get a Roku device than to try to get your PC hooked up to the TV?
