  1. Hi
I've been using megui for quite sometime. I recently updated it to the latest version as always. But the re encoded video looks horrible due to black patches occuring on the video every few seconds. I use x264 hq slowest profile and did not have such problems in the previous versions. People say 2 pass encoding helps making the video look better but it is actually making mine worse. Any help is appreciated.

Pls see the attachment for screenshots.

  2. 1) does the source have these issues?

    2) what were your encoding settings, and avs script ?

    3) what version of megui and x264.exe ? there is no "hq-slowest" profile anymore, so you might be using something really old

    4) how are you viewing this ? what software for playback and taking screenshots ? what decoder ? What happens when you use something else ? e.g. MPCHC, SMplayer etc...

    5) what is the distribtuion of errors ? every frame? only dark scenes etc....

  3. Thank you for the reply.
    well im using megui 0.3.5.0
    i.m using coreavc
mpc home cinema for playback and all other players also show these patches
These patches occur randomly, unable to point out when. roughly every 20-30secs
regarding screenshots i jus pressed printscreensysrq button and pasted it into paint (my bad)
regarding the settings the target size was 450mb,source size being around 1gb. autocrop, lanczos resize, 960x416 resolution (mod 16) source being 1280x544. source ripped from dvd and i saw no such problems in the source video.
regarding the profile i think its custom. maybe i took it from someone while learning ripping and encoding tutorials.

  4. upgrade your software, megui is out of date (0.3.5.6 as of today) , and probably so is your x264.exe - many bugfixes & issues have been resolved

coreavc 1.x is known to have problems with some settings (weightp) , use 2.0 or greater or a different decoder like recent build of ffdshow

post your encoding settings and avs script

how can it be a dvd rip if source is 1280x544 ? was that a typo ?

i guess i have to update it by downloading it again cuz if i try the update in the gui options it says it's already up to date.
ya i'l do the update thing and let u know.
    anyways thanks.
