what does it mean? and how does i fix this?

    Quicktime - updated to date.

    Windows 7 x64, 4GB RAM, Intel Dual 2 Core 3.16GHz.

I got Vegas 8.0c trail because when i had Vegas 9, i got low on memory error all the time! so went to vegas 8.. and now got an error here.. greeeaat -.-!

    Please help

  2. why did you mention quicktime? are all your assets wmv only ? I ask because the newest version of quicktime is known to crash vegas 8 & 9 - most people have rolled back to earlier versions - but if you aren't using or exporting any .mov files it shouldn't matter

do you have wmp11/12 installed ?
    Quote Quote
  3. No i dont got any .mov files in this project.. dunno why i mentioned it

Yeah, got the newest version of windows media player..

i read somewere that it could be audio driver, so gonna update it now and give it a try
    Quote Quote
  4. Well the error messages look to be wmv related, probably issue with decoding , maybe even error with source files.

So one option is to re-encode the wmv assets to something else , e.g. lagarith, huffyuv which are lossless, then re-import or swap assets
    Quote Quote
  5. does this i need to start all over or?
    Quote Quote
  6. Not sure, I think you could just swap the assets - vegas will ask where the missing files are and you re-link them with the new AVI versions (this way you save your edits without having to re-do the project) . For a 6min project I can't imagine that you have a lot of files to swap

  7. Okey, stupid question.. how does lagarith work?

looks to me the problem was in whatever you tried to use for audio. in audio5reader. what format audio were you trying to add?

  9. MP3 format. 247kbs, 10mb.
and yeah, it was when i dragged that audio file into the project i got this error..
but when i open the project again, the audio is not there but still gets this error

You have to encode to the lagarith AVI version, one way to do this is though avisynth and virtualdub .

You make an .avs script for each of your wmv source files, then convert them to something else (I just suggested lagarith, but you could just as easily use uncompressed AVI, or huffyuv or a dozen other choices) . Lagarith is actually very sluggish on the timeline performance wise, but it's lossless

^I would troubleshoot the audio first, maybe enocde to wav for import instead of mp3 before replacing assets

Delete the temp files (not the project veg file ) and re-open does the error still occur?

  11. i downloaded virtualdub, when i opened one of my wmv file, it came it didn`t support it.

you can use the vdub wmv import plugin, or use .avs script to import

the wmv plugin can be found here
    http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/index.html

see above, I would troubleshoot the audio first - you might not have to swap the wmv assets . If you can't salvage the project, then you would have to redo the edits which would suck

  13. Okey, i updated the audio driver, but no luck.. so i really dont know how to fix this..

that is worrisome . Did you delete the temp files, everything except the .veg project file ? Close & restart (maybe even reboot)

Otherwise it sounds like you can't salvage the project
    Quote Quote
  15. i didn`t delete anything?.. have only tried to open the project many times..
    Quote Quote
  16. Vegas saves a bunch of files in the project directory . Delete those temp files, except the .veg file. Close & restart & reopen the project does it still crash ?

I just tried importing mp3 audio into vegas 8 & 9 and it works fine for me.... vegas reports it is using mp3plug2.dll for the decoder when I right click the file in the clip bin

Maybe there are errors in your mp3 audio or wmv files ? (you shouldn't run into memory problems in vegas 9 with a 6min project - this suggests something else is going on)
    Quote Quote
  17. where do i find the temp files? hehe

You'll find vegas makes references to the assets with .sfk index files in the same directory as the asset . I'm hoping if you delete those, that you can re-open the project without the audio, and without crashing

Then maybe you could re-import the mp3 as wav instead

If that's not the problem, then you might have to re-encode the wmv assets
    Quote Quote
  19. i`ve deleted .sfk files, and and restarted vegas, it started to build the files.. 35/35, and the same error came. and when i try to open it again, it shuts down auto. so cant get into the project anymore
    Quote Quote
  20. delete the .sfk files, but move the assets into a different directory . Restart, and Vegas will ask where they are , point them to a .wav version of the mp3 file (and if necessary an AVI version of the WMV files)
    Quote Quote
  21. i managed to open the project, it built everything fine and finished. but 10 seconds after the same error came..
can try to move the assets.
    Quote Quote
  22. update:
Move the files to another location on the same harddrive, found the missing files, when he was done, none of the files was in vegas and the same error came -.-
    Quote Quote
  23. sorry , no idea . maybe a limitation of trial version ? maybe errors in your source files ?

it still doesn't make sense why vegas9 is consuming so much memory for a 6min project. Maybe you have virus or files are corrupted ?

    good luck
    Quote Quote
  24. downloaded the trail yesterday, so weird if its that. strange if it is something about sourcefiles, cause everything worked fine until i dragged into the audio file..

checking for virus everyday, and 0 virus..
    Quote Quote
  25. if i start a new project, and add the same audio file i did on my other project, the audio file works 100% . so i have no idea what to do

the project has over 35 videoclips, every file is over 500mb.. does that have something to say maybe??
    Quote Quote
  26. i installed vegas 9.0 again, and opened the project there.. no errors came.. but if i need to search for missing files.. IF i add all the files, the program is very slow and freezes.

if i only search for half of the files, if works 100% fine..

    soo anyone got a clue?

depending on the speed of your computer it can take vegas a long time to add all the files the first time. it may not be frozen but working on the source files.

vegas works with large files no problem. i can add several 12-13 GB files and it doesn't care.

if it were me i'd start fresh and add the files one at a time and drag each to the timeline as i was doing them to make sure they are all ok and not damaged which might crash vegas.

  28. well i tried to render the project and just leave it like this for many hours.. but after almost 6hours, its 0% and it says 14 hours left..

and when i try to cancel nothing happends.. so that means it has frozen..

I tried to start a fresh start.. but when i`m done the same problems happends all the time!

    anyone got any tips ?
