I have a folder of just over 7gigs of videos in it. They are flv files I've downloaded with streamtransport. They are mostly h264 videos.

I haven't had a problem until the other day. Now when I open the folder it crashes windows explorer and it closes the directory. I can not even open the file in a program like mpchc to view the files.

I have successfully copied the videos into another folder on the same drive with command prompt and the simple copy e:\ e:\ command. However the destination folder has the same problem. I am not sure which is the corrupt file.

I'd really hate to lose all the videos in the folders.

I have just tested and other flvs in another folder on the same drive play just fine through mpchc. That other folder doesn't cause windows explorer to crash and reboot even though it also has flv videos.

    I'm stumped at the cause.

Should I try copying one video at a time to isolate the possible corrupt file?

EDIT - Well copying the videos to another folder solved HALF the problem. I can at least open the video in mpchc and play it without crashing. THat is something at least. However I can't access it directly in explorer. I have to use a program to get to the file.

    Edit 2 - Well I solved it!

It turns out FORMAT FACTORY was somehow at fault. I went to load format factory to convert a flv in the copied folder but the default folder it was set to was the corrupted original flv folder that was giving me the problems.

I wasn't able to get format factory to open another folder. It would simply crash.

So I went and uninstalled format factory and reinstalled and BOOM! It worked! So now I have full access to my original flv folder again.

    Hope this helps somebody.

I wonder if there was some kind of aborted conversion from the other day that I don't remember. It might have caused it to hang or something even though the pc has been off for a few days and I had done a reboot prior to this work session.

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
