    Hello,

    I have a CyberHome 300 dvd player.

The unit was brand new and playing dvds perfectly. I decided to go through some older VCDs (mostly 2.0) that I had and it played the first one fine for a few minutes.

So I put in another and it played for a bit and the image suddenly stuck/frozen. I've tried ejecting and powering off/unpluging the unit several times and all I get now is the "Bad Disc" message. Even with regular dvds.

Not sure what to do now.... It's like the lenses or optical laser is stuck or something.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

Were those vcd's made using non compliant vcd specs ?

It sounds more likely that there's been an issue with the units ability to read the data at some point which has overloaded the two diodes which control the frequencies for the laser to read dvd's and vcd's ... return it as defective under warranty.

Well the problem there is I've had the unit for a few years in it's unopened retail box waiting to be used as a backup player when needed.

    So no warranty unfortunately

I'll try the hold the stop button for 5 seconds to try and re-set it (read that here in another thread) and see if that helps.

Thanks for the info...but I'm open to any other ideas to try as well

Will bite the bullet and buy a new player (different brand) if need be...using an older RCA atm that was also under the bed lol

Just wanted to see if there was a hack/button combo or some physical remedy that i could try before buying a new one.

As far as I'm aware the vcds were/are compliant. There were showing up on the screen as 2.0
