    Okay, long story short...
    • I have two dvd versions of this anime.
    • One version is on 32 dvds. The other is on 16 dvds. Only difference is the amount of episodes on each disc.
    • BOTH versions are identical except for menus.
    • The 16 dvd set has only subtitles in Japanese.
    • The 32 dvd set has both English and Japanese.
What I'm wondering is if I can take the subtitles of the 32 dvd set and put them in with the episodes of the 16 dvd set. I do know how to rip dvds. I've never replaced subtitles though.

I read this thread https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/163978-How-To-Add-Subtitles-to-a-DVD-(THE-COMPLETE-WORKING-GUIDE and I don't know if this is right or not. I've never done this before so I don't want to mess up.

Short answer.. Depends how your playing them. If you using a computer player, most will allow you to import subtitles without doing anything to the disk your playing. However, you would just have to have those subtitles on your hard disk. You could demux out the subtitles you want episode by episode and play them all externally or they can be re-muxed back in. That would require you to re-do the disks.

I'd be playing them back from dvds. What I'd want done is to have everything the same from the 16 dvd set, including both English and Japanese subtitles. I know that there will be work involved in doing this and I don't mind that. I just read that guide and it seems that it'd work but I'm not sure myself since I've never done this.

I'd rather have 16 dvds on my shelf than 32. Anyone would but if it comes to it, the 32 dvds have 3-4 episodes each when the 16 dvds each have 7. I'd rather want quality over quanity lol I'm not that lazy to get up and change a dvd out after it's done anyways but if this method could be done, I'd like to give it a try.
