Hi there. I'm currently living in the US and I'm planning to buy a blu-ray player for a cousin that lives in South America. So his DVD region is 4, while the US region is 1.
Since a region 1 blu-ray/DVD player would be useless for him, I'm already counting on the need of a multiregion hack. And the simplicity of the hacking process will certainly be decisive in my choice - for instance, I'd rather unlock it using the device remote than using an URC.
Can you guys advise me on what blu-ray player to buy? It seems like some brands are easier to hack than others. Besides, it seems like some brands (like Sony? Panasonic?) do not allow region 1 to be hacked (at least the usual hacks don't seem to be working for US blu-ray players)
Any opinion would be much appreciated. I really don't understand this whole region lock thing...sounds pretty pointless to me.
