Hi,
In MediaStudio's Video Editor I imported an .avi file which is about 130Mbytes in size. I rendered it in Video Editor and output it to a .avi format file. It took about 5 times longer than StudioVideo 5 (also by Ulead) and the output file is about 940Mbytes???
When I rendered the same clip in StudioVideo 5 the output file size is roughly the same size as the input.
Does any one know why?
Thanks in advance.

...you probably rendered the AVI as uncompressed. If so, you should be able to select which codec to use (depending on what's installed in your system).
hope this helps. -
I use the default encoder which is Microsoft DV AVI Encoder in Uncompress mode. Note: I have not installed extra decoder/encoder apart from what were supplied.
How do I/What do select to get the normal size output from MediaStudio 6?. It very frustrated that I can't get it to work.
Thanks -
If you do file/create you have the choice to select output type (for example avi or mpg). The go to options and select the proper type (for DV type 1 or type2, for mpg select mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 with various formats).
You can select size and bitrate too. -
My apology.
MediaStudio 6 does not have the "Microsoft DV Encoder". When so when I create a video file (AVI format), I selected other encoders, such as Indeo5...etc, one at the time and compare the output file sizes. All the output files are large, roughly between 5 to 9 times larger than the input (avi) file size.
However I rendered the same input file in StudioVideo 5 and Premiere 6 both of which have "Microsoft DV Encoder" and I use to create an AVI file output. The default setting for video is (720*576) size and the rate of 25 fps which are the standard size for DV. And they do a nice job, both of them create output files which are about the same size as the input file.
The problem is MediaStudio 6 does not have the "Microsoft DV Encoder".
Does any one know how to include "Microsoft DV Encoder" in the encoding list? so that I can select it when I want to render to an AVI file?
Or how can I create an AVI output file using other decoder (with the video setting same as mentioned above) and have the output file size roughly the same as input file.
I know if I reduce the frame rate down to say 300*240 sure I will have smaller file size but that's not what I want to do.
Many Thanks -
Try to download the latest MediaStudio Trial. The DV codec should be included.Or get the Adaptec DV codec, it's free.
