Before I purchase a blu-ray writer I'd like to know about the following. Cyberlinks video editing software PowerDirector is supposed to be able to write directly to a blu-ray writer, provided that 'the writer is compatible with the software '. The blu-ray writer manufacturer (Plextor) says it cannot say whether the two are compatible and it is Cyberlink who will know whether or not they have written a suitable driver. Cyberlink on the other hand aren't being very helpful in this respect. So my questions are, a) is it the blu-ray writer manufacturer or the editing program software producers who should provide the driver, and b) if neither say they can supply a driver is it likely that a 'generic' driver will be available (and from where). Hope someone can provide clarification.
